The body of a missing young guide was recovered on Saturday after a speedboat fire near the Customs Pier at Ao Makham, Phuket. Rescue divers located the remains of Komphet Wandee, who had been trapped beneath the wreckage following the explosion and blaze on April 6.
Search Efforts and Ongoing Investigation
Divers from the Kusoldharm Foundation found the victim at 15:10 after searching the submerged speedboat since the incident. The body was retrieved from under the vessel and sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
Five other crew members were injured during the fire, officials said. CCTV footage captured the moment the speedboat exploded before flames engulfed the vessel.
Phuket forensic police are examining the cause of the explosion and fire. The investigation remains ongoing.
