Diesel Prices Surge! Oil Fuel Fund Board Approves 3.50 Baht/Litre Hike to 44.24 Baht in Thailand

Diesel prices across Thailand, including Phuket, will jump by 3.50 baht per litre starting April 2, 2026, after the Oil Fuel Fund Management Board approved a subsidy reduction to address the fund’s liquidity. The board’s decision, announced April 1, sets the new retail price for regular diesel at 44.24 baht per litre, marking an immediate impact on motorists and businesses.

Subsidy Reductions and Price Changes

The subsidy for regular diesel will fall by 4.11 baht per litre, from 21.89 baht to 17.78 baht, according to the board’s meeting results. The new rate aligns with current market conditions and aims to stabilize the Oil Fuel Fund’s finances.

Biodiesel B20 will see its subsidy drop by 3.99 baht per litre, lowering it to 20.12 baht per litre. As a result, B20’s retail price rises to 39.24 baht per litre, effective from 5:00 AM on April 2. Gasoline price adjustments will be announced separately by oil companies.

Impact on Transport and Goods

Officials noted that the price hike comes as the Oil Fuel Fund faces continued deficits from previous price caps during global oil market volatility. The board’s move is intended to ease liquidity strain while reflecting international trends.

Truckers, farmers, and logistics operators in Phuket and nationwide are advised to prepare for increased fuel costs. The higher diesel prices are expected to influence transportation fares and the prices of goods in the near future.
