Foreign driver hits motorcycle, injures three girls in Phuket

Three Thai girls, all aged 14, were injured after a foreign driver collided with their motorcycle in Sakhu subdistrict, Thalang district, Phuket at 3.15pm on April 8. CCTV footage shared on April 9 showed a sedan, driven by 29-year-old Michael, crossing into the opposite lane before striking the motorcycle. Police said one of the girls suffered serious injuries and appealed for blood donations at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Police Investigation and Evidence

Sakhu Police Chief Pol. Col. Salan Santisatsanakul confirmed that the driver was operating a Toyota Yaris Ativ at the time of the crash. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage and other evidence, concluding that the collision resulted from the driver crossing the centre line into oncoming traffic.

After the initial impact with the motorcycle, the sedan continued and crashed into a nearby restaurant, causing further property damage. Officers collected evidence at the scene and transported the vehicles to Sakhu Police Station for further examination.

All three injured girls remain under medical care, with one requiring urgent blood transfusions, according to a public appeal posted by the Phuket Times. Police have recorded the finding of driver negligence as part of their case file, with legal proceedings underway.

The incident follows a similar crash in Chalong, Phuket, where a foreign woman driving a pickup truck collided with two motorcycles, resulting in one fatality and another injury. Police continue to investigate both cases.
