Found! Body of young guide in Phuket speedboat fire

The body of Komphet Wandee, a young guide missing since a speedboat fire in Phuket, was recovered on the afternoon of April 6. Divers located his remains trapped beneath the wreckage of the sunken vessel, which had gone down near Koh Taphao Yai after a violent explosion and blaze earlier that day.

Details of the Incident and Ongoing Investigation

The speedboat, named "Tequila" and registered under number 685101413, was undergoing repairs at Coco Pier in Wichit subdistrict when the explosion occurred at 11:00 a.m., officials said.

Six people, including crew and maintenance workers, sustained injuries during the incident.

Rescue teams towed the burning boat away from the pier to contain the fire, but it ultimately sank offshore.

Divers from Kusoldharm Foundation conducted a continuous underwater search before finding Komphet at 3:10 p.m.

Authorities transported his body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for forensic examination to determine the precise cause of death.

Provincial forensic officers are continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion and fire.
