Five suspects detained, illegal structures and animals found

Authorities identified five individuals accused of forest encroachment and land clearing under the Forest Act. One suspect was additionally charged with illegal firearm possession and transferred to Karon Police Station for investigation. Officers discovered unauthorized buildings used as residences, shops, and amenities within the reserved forest. Four elephants were found tethered in the area, prompting officials to coordinate with the Phuket District Livestock Office for further action. Residents reported being unable to access their properties due to threats and weapons, and called for urgent government intervention. Relevant agencies pledged to continue a thorough investigation, enforce legal action, and restore the forest area.
