Surin Governor Chamroen Waenpetch has invited tourists to the “Surin Elephant Songkran Festival,” set for April 10–12, 2026, at Chalerm Phrakiat Park in Surin city. Speaking at the Chang Yai meeting room, he encouraged officials and the public to wear Thai fabric, including the region’s signature elephant silk, and promoted the event as a celebration of Thai elephant conservation. Phuket residents and visitors are welcome to join the three-day festival, which is free of charge.
Festival Highlights and Cultural Activities
The festival features a grand parade representing four local ethnic groups, each showcasing unique cultural identities. Attendees can participate in “Hom Sabai, Sai Pha Thai, Len Nam Kab Chang,” an activity allowing safe, close interaction with elephants.
Creative photo zones and check-in points are set throughout the venue. Entertainment includes a foam party, DJ performances, a water street, and a variety of street food. The stage will host cultural performances and a light-and-sound show titled “Life with Elephants,” depicting the deep bond between people and elephants.
