Phuket Tourist Police arrested a Russian national on April 4 for illegally working as a tour guide while holding a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), officials confirmed. The suspect was found leading Russian-speaking tourists in Phuket, despite the DTV’s explicit ban on employment during its 180-day stay period.
Evidence and Legal Action
Authorities presented itineraries written in Russian as evidence of the suspect’s unauthorized tour operations. Police charged the individual with operating a tourism business without a license, acting as a tour guide without proper certification, and working as a foreign national without a work permit.
Investigators have taken custody of the suspect to pursue prosecution. Officials stated they will seek to revoke the DTV and begin deportation proceedings.
