Major Drug Bust in Phuket With 32,000 Meth Pills Seized

A major drug bust in Phuket led to the seizure of 32,000 methamphetamine pills and 56.35 grams of crystal methamphetamine on April 1, according to provincial authorities. The operation, coordinated by a joint task force under Phuket Governor Nirat Phongsitthithavorn, targeted a planned drug delivery in Kathu district following intelligence received on March 31.

Undercover Operation and Arrest

Undercover officers arranged a purchase of 10,000 methamphetamine tablets via the Line messaging app, agreeing to a price of 120,000 baht. The suspect, identified only as Mr. A, contacted agents and agreed to deliver the drugs near Bang Thong School in Kathu around 8:00 p.m.

During the search, authorities found 16 bundles containing 2,000 meth pills each, along with crystal methamphetamine. Additional evidence included a digital scale, a Honda PCX motorcycle, a mobile phone, and cash.

Mr. A was detained on charges of possession and attempted distribution of methamphetamine with intent to sell, illegal consumption of methamphetamine, and driving under the influence of narcotics. All seized items and the suspect were transferred to Kathu Police Station for further legal action.
