Phuket’s Department of Land Transport confirmed on April 6 that taxi services are operating normally across the province, following concerns about potential disruptions. Adcha Bua-chan, Director of the Phuket Provincial Transport Office, stated that metered taxis remain available and prepared to serve both residents and tourists in Phuket.
Alternative Energy Fleet and Service Monitoring
More than 1,700 taxis in Phuket now run on electricity or LPG, while only about 70 taxis—just 3.9% of the fleet—still use conventional fuel. This transition aims to stabilize operations amid fluctuating fuel prices.
Officials said monitoring at Phuket Town, Patong, and Phuket International Airport found taxis in sufficient supply at key locations. Authorities continue to track public transport availability to maintain passenger confidence and ensure convenience for all travelers.
