Phuket marked the opening of its annual historical festival on March 14, 2026, with a grand light and sound show at the Thalang Victory Monument in Ban Reang, Thalang. The event paid tribute to two revered heroines, Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Sri Sunthon, who famously defended Phuket against Burmese invaders in the late 18th century. General Boonsin emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of ancestors and urged younger generations to honor the courage of those who protected Phuket’s future.
