A 30-year-old Thai man known as Boy was arrested on March 25 for groping at least four Thai and foreign women in the Chalong area of Phuket throughout March, police said. Officers from Chalong Police Station reported that the suspect targeted victims in separate incidents, causing fear in the community and leaving some women injured as they tried to escape.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Chalong Police received four separate reports of sexual assault from both Thai and foreign nationals. Victims described the attacker as slim, dark-skinned, with a shaved head, and riding a black Honda Click 125 motorcycle. After reviewing CCTV footage from the scenes, investigators identified Boy as the suspect. Police obtained an arrest warrant from the Phuket Provincial Court on March 24 and apprehended him the next day.
Incident Details and Legal Action
Footage from one attack, later shared online, shows a woman parking her motorcycle at night before being approached and groped by the suspect, who then fled when the victim called for help. Police said Boy confessed during questioning and faces charges under Section 279 of the Criminal Law for sexually assaulting a child under 13, which carries a penalty of one to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine of 20,000 to 200,000 baht, or both. Officers confirmed that similar assaults were carried out against other victims in the area.
