Phuket is set to host the internationally acclaimed Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) for the first time this weekend, as the three-day electronic dance music festival kicks off at Boat Avenue Lakefront in the island’s Thalang district from Friday to Sunday.
EDC Thailand 2025 will bring together more than 90 of the world’s leading DJs, including The Chainsmokers, Skrillex, Afrojack, Illenium, Fisher, and Yellow Claw, promising to transform Phuket into a premier destination for dance music enthusiasts across Asia. The festival’s organisers, Billions EDC Ltd, said the event aims to position Phuket as the “Ibiza of Asia,” attracting thousands of both local and international visitors.
Festival-goers can expect performances across five music stages, each equipped with state-of-the-art lasers, lighting, special effects, and fireworks. The festival is being held at Boat Avenue Lakefront, Soi Cherngtalay 2, in the Choeng Thale subdistrict. The venue has arranged parking for up to 2,500 vehicles at the nearby PTT gas station (Pasak branch) to accommodate the influx of attendees.
Local authorities have issued traffic advisories for the duration of the event, warning motorists to avoid the Ban Don – Cherngtalay and Si Sunthon roads, as well as surrounding soi roads, from noon until midnight each day through January 19. Heavy congestion is expected in the vicinity, and residents are urged to plan alternative routes if traveling near the festival site.
The arrival of EDC is anticipated to provide a significant boost to Phuket’s tourism industry, with hotels, restaurants, and local businesses likely to benefit from increased patronage. The festival also offers residents and tourists a unique opportunity to experience a world-class music event without leaving the island.
With thousands of visitors expected, local authorities and organisers are coordinating closely to ensure safety measures, traffic management, and public services are in place. The success of EDC Thailand 2025 could pave the way for similar large-scale international events in the future, further cementing Phuket’s reputation as a leading destination for music and cultural festivals.
Residents and tourists are advised to keep updated on traffic alerts and event schedules as the festival continues over the weekend. Authorities will monitor the situation and provide additional guidance if required.
