Phuket to raise boat fares to Koh Phi Phi and tour package prices from April 5

Ferry and speedboat fares from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi, along with boat tour package prices, will rise by 200 baht per person starting April 5. The fare hike follows approval from the Phuket Provincial Marine Department after local operators cited mounting fuel costs.

Approval Process and Fare Structure

Phuket Provincial Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn met with officials and marine operators on April 2 to address the impact of rising fuel prices on operating costs. Marine Department Director Adul Raluekmoon authorized the increases after hearing operators’ concerns about absorbing higher expenses.

The new rates apply to both round-trip ferry and speedboat services, as well as tour packages departing from Phuket. Operators confirmed they will implement the revised fares from April 5, with further adjustments possible if fuel prices exceed 45 baht per litre.

Broader Transport Fare Increases Linked to Fuel Prices

Other transport sectors in Thailand are also raising prices in response to fuel cost surges. Boat operators on Bangkok’s Saen Saep Canal and Chao Phraya River increased fares by two baht from March 30 and announced a further two-baht rise to take effect April 7.

Public passenger vans and minibuses nationwide will see a 0.5 baht per kilometre fare hike from April 6, with another increase scheduled from April 20. On April 2, diesel prices rose by 3.5 baht and gasoline by 0.7 baht, prompting operators to review their pricing structures.
