Phuket Town received contemporary sculptures valued at 6 million baht on Tuesday, following the conclusion of the 2024 Thailand Biennale art festival. The handover ceremony took place at Queen Sirikit Park, with municipal officials stating the works will remain on public display.
Sculptures to Remain in Public Spaces
Six large-scale pieces were installed across central Phuket Town as part of the Biennale, according to the Phuket City Municipality. The donated works were created by international and Thai artists commissioned for the event.
Officials said the sculptures will be maintained by the city as a permanent cultural attraction. The installations are expected to enhance the area’s appeal for both residents and visitors.
The 2024 Thailand Biennale ran from March through early April, drawing thousands of attendees to venues across the island. Organisers estimate the event generated significant local interest and increased foot traffic in downtown Phuket.
