Phuket tuk tuk driver accuses Russian man of refusing to pay for service

A Phuket tuk tuk driver has accused a Russian man of refusing to pay a 300 baht fare after a ride from Bangla Road to the passenger’s hotel in Patong on April 3. The dispute escalated in the hotel lobby, where the passenger allegedly claimed the driver had tried to overcharge him 3,000 baht and asked staff to review CCTV footage, according to a video shared by the driver online.

Dispute Highlights Fare Agreement and Social Media Response

The driver stated the Russian passenger had agreed before the ride to pay 300 baht and even offered a 200 baht tip. In the video, the driver is heard saying, “He (the foreign passenger) said okay before the service but refused to pay me upon arrival.”

He later told ThaiRath he may start collecting fares in advance to prevent similar incidents. The video, which shows the confrontation in the hotel lobby, has circulated widely on social media.

Passenger’s Allegation and Unclear Resolution

Upon arrival at the hotel, the Russian man reportedly told hotel staff the tuk tuk driver attempted to charge him 3,000 baht instead of the agreed amount. The passenger requested hotel staff check security footage to support his claim.

It remains unclear how the situation was resolved, and the driver did not confirm whether he ultimately received payment for the fare.
