Porsche service centre worker in Phuket steals client’s Rolex watch

A Porsche service centre worker in Phuket returned a stolen Rolex watch valued at 479,000 baht after police identified him using fingerprints found inside the client’s vehicle, the victim’s son confirmed on March 26. The watch went missing from a storage compartment in a white Porsche Taycan GTS after the car was sent for service at a facility on Bypass Road, Phuket, on March 23.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Theft

The owner reported that her son had borrowed the Taycan GTS on March 22 and left the Rolex in the centre console next to the driver’s seat. On March 24, she opened the compartment at a fitness centre to retrieve a charger and saw the watch still inside. After damaging a tyre while parking, she contacted her insurance company, leaving the car key with a gym maid while paperwork was processed. The Porsche was then loaded onto a carrier and transported to the service centre, where a staff member drove it off the carrier and assisted with documentation. When the owner returned to collect the watch, it was missing from the compartment.

Police Investigation and Recovery

The woman reported the incident to police and posted warnings on social media, naming both the carrier driver and service centre worker as suspects. Both denied involvement and allowed their belongings to be searched. Police collected fingerprints from inside the vehicle, which led to the identification of the service centre worker responsible for the theft. The watch was returned after the evidence was presented, as confirmed by the victim’s son in a March 26 update. Despite the family’s decision not to seek compensation, police continued legal proceedings, stating that theft charges cannot be privately settled under Thai law.
