Surin Governor Jamroen Waenpetch led local officials in hosting a banquet for border soldiers in Phanom Dong Rak district on April 3, aiming to boost morale among officers stationed near the Cambodian border. The event, held at Prasat Ta Kwai in Surin province, included a religious ceremony and the presentation of food and supplies to security personnel. Phuket authorities were not directly involved but the initiative reflects a broader regional focus on supporting frontline staff.

Religious Ceremony and Community Support

The gathering featured a merit-making ritual intended to bring good fortune and reinforce the spirits of those responsible for maintaining national security, officials said.

Participants included Surin Deputy Governor Praphat Srichanwiang, local government representatives, and community leaders. Organisers shared a communal lunch with soldiers, underscoring unity and cooperation across all sectors.

The event formed part of the “Sai Yai Sattha: Thank You to Border Heroes” campaign, which seeks to recognise the dedication of officers safeguarding the border. Local authorities said such activities aim to strengthen community resilience and promote lasting peace in border areas.
