Surin Province launches a project to provide legal knowledge on migrant labor management.

Surin Province launched a project on March 31 aimed at providing legal knowledge on migrant labor management to employers and partner organizations, officials said. The initiative, held at Lumpini Grand Conference Room, Suanpa Resort, Mueang Surin District, targets improved compliance and understanding of labor laws among business operators. Phuket officials have observed similar efforts to address migrant labor issues in their own province.

The project’s main goal is to strengthen accurate understanding of laws and regulations among employers, business associations, private organizations, community leaders, and network partners, according to Chanakarn Leepiboonsawat, Surin’s provincial employment officer. Training covers requirements under the Royal Decree on Management of Foreign Workers 2017 and its 2018 amendments, as well as related legal procedures for work permit applications.

Organizers emphasized that proper legal knowledge is intended to reduce illegal employment and promote more effective labor management. The program also addresses prevention of labor trafficking among migrants.

Training Structure and Local Participation

Participants in the Surin program include employers, business operators, and network organizations from across the province. Attendees receive instruction from legal experts and have opportunities to exchange experiences and perspectives.

Officials noted that Surin’s diverse sectors rely on migrant labor, making such training essential to balancing employer needs with worker rights protection. The initiative aims to support sustainable economic and social development in the area.
