A Thai man was arrested at a Phuket hotel on April 7 after allegedly shooting his colleague at a warehouse in Ratsada two days earlier, police said. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Prakit Pannarai, reportedly fired three shots at 40-year-old Wirat Nawadate during an altercation at a retail store warehouse on April 6. The incident left Wirat with gunshot wounds to his body and leg.
Victim’s Condition and Police Response
Wirat managed to contact a friend for help after the shooting and was transported to hospital. Medical staff said his condition, initially critical, has stabilized and he is now considered safe.
Police stated that an identification card worn by Wirat reduced the impact of one bullet. Officers from Mueang Phuket Police Station located Prakit at a hotel later the same day and seized a firearm and 25 bullets as evidence.
Suspect’s Motive and Legal Action
During questioning, Prakit admitted to the shooting, telling police it was the result of a longstanding dispute with Wirat. He described previous arguments and said he lost his temper during the incident.
Authorities charged Prakit with attempted murder and illegal possession and use of a firearm. Police indicated further questioning will focus on details of the conflict to ensure a fair investigation.
