Phuket Kite Festival is Underway

The Phuket Kite Festival 2026 launched on April 4 at Karon Beach, drawing large crowds to witness a vibrant aerial display of kites from around the world. Organized by the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, the three-day event features traditional Thai designs alongside international showpieces, highlighting Phuket as a center for cultural exchange and creative tourism.

International Participation and Cultural Exchange

The opening ceremony was led by Mr. Rewat Areerob, President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, with international guests such as Ms. Ke Yan, Deputy Mayor of Yangjiang City, China, in attendance. Kites from China, Singapore, Malaysia, and Poland joined Thai creations, turning the sky into a global gallery of artistry.

Organizers emphasized the festival’s role in preserving Thailand’s kite-making traditions while attracting overseas visitors. The presence of local leaders and international delegates underlined Phuket’s ambitions to become a signature destination for creative tourism.

Festival Activities and Economic Boost

Beyond the kite displays, the festival offers workshops in kite-making and painting for families and children, as well as environmental initiatives promoting sustainable creativity. A Creative Market showcases local crafts and community products, while food zones feature craft coffee, popular restaurants, and beachfront food trucks.

Evening performances by Thai artists such as Musketeers, OG-ANIC, LAZYLOXY, and ETC. add to the festival’s appeal, keeping the atmosphere lively after sunset. The event is designed to boost Phuket’s image as a world-class tourism destination and inject new energy into the local economy, officials said.
