American fan helped Nene Royal from Phuket market to AGT win
Sean supported Nene Royal’s America’s Got Talent application after discovering the young musician performing at Phuket’s Naka Weekend Market.
An American fan named Sean helped Nene Royal progress from performing at Phuket’s Naka Weekend Market to winning Season 21 of America’s Got Talent in 2026, according to The Thaiger.
Sean first saw Nene performing for shoppers at the market and was impressed by her voice, guitar skills and stage presence. He then approached her parents with the idea of submitting her performances to the US talent show.
The application involved collecting performance clips, completing an English-language application and communicating with the programme’s casting team, the report said. Several submissions initially received no response, but Sean continued helping the family until Nene was invited to audition in Los Angeles.
The confirmation reportedly brought Nene and her father, Narong Amloy, to tears. Sean later helped with the early stages of her journey and contributed towards travel and other expenses before wider support from Thailand emerged.
Nene, 16, subsequently impressed the judges and viewers with her distinctive voice, guitar playing and performances before becoming the Season 21 champion. The Thaiger reported that her success also reflected years of practice and support from her family.
Sean’s role began when he encountered the young musician on a street-stage performance in Phuket and helped her family pursue an opportunity in the United States.
