Anutin rides Phuket EV Smart Bus to promote carpooling and cut traffic — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul rode a Phuket EV Smart Bus to Phuket International Airport on May 10, 2026, using the trip to promote carpooling, lower energy use and ease traffic congestion. He traveled with Deputy Interior Minister Varis Thepsuthin and other officials on a Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization bus, without an accompanying motorcade.

The bus ride followed Anutin’s inspection and follow-up on public beach encroachment problems in the province. Officials said the shared trip also allowed him to receive updates on government and Interior Ministry work in Phuket during the journey.
Governor briefs Anutin during airport-bound trip
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat sat beside Anutin on the bus and briefed him on areas along the route. The governor used the journey to report on policy implementation in the province and outline issues requiring attention.
Officials said the arrangement was intended to make use of travel time so problems could be reviewed and addressed more quickly. The campaign message was “same route, ride together,” highlighting shared transport as a way to move more people with one vehicle.
Phuket’s EV Smart Bus network currently operates three Route 1 services in Mueang district. Line 1 runs from Saphan Hin to Central Phuket, Line 2 from Ao Chalong Pier to Super Cheap, and Line 3 from Ratsada Pier to Andamanda Water Park.
The fare is 15 baht for the full route. Students, elderly passengers, monks and people with disabilities ride free.
