Ban Pasak field considered for Phuket’s 2027 Heroines Festival

Phuket officials are considering a field in Ban Pasak, Cherng Talay, as the venue for the 2027 Heroines Festival historical drama while improvement work is planned at the event’s traditional location.

PPAO President Rewat Areerob led a site inspection on September 1, accompanied by Andaman Kreuphanich, a PPAO council member for Thalang District Zone 4, Aomduen Phiwthong, director of the PPAO Tourism and Sports Division, and other officials and relevant parties.

The Ban Pasak site was previously used for the EDC music festival. The PPAO said it was being considered so the historical drama can continue while development work is carried out at Victory Field, also known as Thalang Memorial, in Thepkrasattri.

The annual festival commemorates the defence of Thalang against a Burmese invasion in 1785. Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Sri Soonthorn, known locally as Ya Chan and Ya Mook, are remembered for rallying local residents during the conflict. March 13, associated with the decisive battle, is commemorated as Thalang Victory Day.

The 2026 festival, held from March 13-15, marked the 241st anniversary of the defence of Thalang. Its programme included a large-scale light-and-sound historical drama featuring hundreds of performers, cultural performances, exhibitions and more than 300 food and product stalls.

The possible Ban Pasak venue is separate from the long-planned redevelopment of the 100-rai Thalang Victory Monument area. The PPAO has allocated B265 million in its 2026 fiscal-year budget for a project including museums, exhibition space, public facilities and landscaping.

The redevelopment was inspected by the Phuket Provincial Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission in December 2025, which said it would continue monitoring the project.

The PPAO has not yet confirmed Ban Pasak as the venue for the 2027 historical drama. The latest inspection was described as part of preparations for next year’s festival.
