Bangkok-Phuket Cancer Institute opens at Bangkok Hospital Phuket
The new institute brings together cancer services from three Phuket hospitals, offering care from screening and diagnosis through treatment and long-term follow-up.
The Bangkok-Phuket Cancer Institute was inaugurated at Bangkok Hospital Phuket on 30 July 2026, bringing together cancer treatment capabilities from Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Bangkok Hospital Siriroj and Dibuk Hospital.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Pansangiam and attended by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) President Dr Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, Group 6 Chief Executive Officer Dr Kongkiat Kespechara, BDMS executives, foreign consular representatives, medical partners and invited guests.
The institute provides cancer screening, diagnosis, surgery, medical oncology, radiation therapy, rehabilitation, second-opinion consultations and long-term follow-up care. Professor Dr Art Hiranyakas, its director, said the centre uses a multidisciplinary approach, advanced medical technology and personalised treatment plans intended to preserve organ function where possible while maintaining patients’ quality of life.
Specialists from across the BDMS network, including Bangkok Cancer Hospital Wattanosoth, also support the institute. An international patient centre with multilingual staff is available to assist patients and their families during treatment.
Vice Governor Suwit said the institute would help expand Phuket’s specialist healthcare infrastructure and reduce the need for patients from Phuket and neighbouring provinces to travel elsewhere for cancer treatment. Dr Poramaporn said the centre reflected BDMS investment in specialised medical facilities and its effort to connect expertise across its hospital network for Thai and overseas patients.
