Bangkok pushes odor fixes at On Nut waste plant with E-NOSE installation

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said on May 7, 2026, that city officials are accelerating efforts to curb odors from the On Nut waste plant, with an E-NOSE system installed as part of the response. The update marked progress over four years on a long-running problem, while Phuket remains outside the scope of the Bangkok project.

Four-year push centers on odor monitoring

Chadchart said the city has spent four years working to address foul smells drifting from the On Nut facility.

The installation of the E-NOSE system is intended to strengthen odor detection and support management of emissions from the plant.

He also signaled that the work will need to continue beyond the current administration.

Chadchart said he is placing hope in a new management team to carry the effort forward.
