British man alleges assault and forced crypto transfer in Chalong

A British man has alleged that two Polish men assaulted him and forced him to transfer cryptocurrency at a condominium in Chalong, Phuket, on 29 September.

According to an account shared with the Phuket Times Facebook page, the man drove from Kamala to Chalong at about 11pm to meet a childhood friend. He said he went to a fourth-floor room, where two Polish men were drinking.

The man said he drank one glass of whisky because he planned to drive home and refused requests to drink more. He alleged that the two men then attacked him, strangled him with a cable tie and tried to detain him.

He said he asked his friend for help, but the friend refused and told him to follow the men’s instructions. The man alleged that he tried to leave but was pulled back into the room, threatened with pruning shears and forced to transfer cryptocurrency.

The amount transferred was reportedly small, which allegedly angered the men. The man said he escaped by jumping from the fourth-floor balcony and suffered further injuries in the fall. He alleged that he has since been unable to walk.

A condominium security guard reportedly found him and assisted him. The account was reported on 6 October.
