British man dies in Thailand days before wedding after hospital discharge

Kyle Campbell, a 32-year-old British man, died in Thailand on 30 July after being discharged from hospital following a motorcycle accident, days before he was due to marry his fiancée.

Campbell, from Westhoughton in Bolton, had travelled to Thailand to marry Kannika Masasai. The couple had been in a relationship for two and a half years.

He sustained a head injury in the crash and received treatment at a local hospital before being discharged. His family in the UK were later informed that he had died in his sleep.

Campbell’s family said they were subsequently told that the medical care he received after the accident had been inadequate. That allegation has not been independently verified.

Masasai paid tribute to Campbell in a social media post, saying he would remain in her heart and that she would always cherish their memories together. Campbell leaves behind his 12-year-old son, who lived with him.

The Daily Mirror reported that Campbell’s cousin, Dianne Fisher, launched a fundraising campaign seeking £10,000 for repatriation, funeral expenses and related costs. The campaign had raised £10,955 as of 3 August, according to the report.

Fisher thanked those who had supported the family during what she described as the most difficult time of their lives.
