Car destroyed in fire on busy Kathu road
A car was destroyed in a fire on Phra Phuket Kaew Rd in Kathu on Monday evening, with no injuries reported and the cause still under investigation.
A black Ford sedan was destroyed by fire on Phra Phuket Kaew Rd in Kathu on Monday evening, with police and forensic officers investigating the cause.
Kathu Police said they were notified by the 191 emergency radio centre at about 5:55pm after reports that a vehicle had caught fire at the Choti U-turn on the inbound carriageway.
Investigating officer Pol Lt Col Akrapol Siwilai arrived to find the black Ford sedan, bearing Phuket licence plate KhTh 8563, completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters responded quickly and brought the blaze under control, but the car sustained extensive damage and was left undrivable.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Police carried out an initial examination at the scene and recorded evidence before coordinating with forensic officers to determine the cause of the fire. The cause had not been established at the time of reporting, and the investigation is continuing under the supervision of Kathu Police Superintendent Pol Col Chalermchai Hoersawat.
