CCTV leads Chalong police to suspect in 2 Phuket theft cases
Police identified the suspect as ‘Mr Kittisak’, also known as ‘Bang Sol’, who was later detained on drug charges by Thalang Police before being transferred to Chalong Police Station for further investigation.
Chalong police said CCTV footage helped identify a suspect in two theft cases reported in Phuket on May 11, leading investigators to Mr Kittisak, also known as Bang Sol. He was later arrested on drug-related charges at a checkpoint by Thalang Police on May 14 before being transferred to Chalong Police Station for further investigation.
The first complaint came from a rental property behind Lung Poon curry restaurant in Moo 8, Chalong, where a car was ransacked and a shoulder bag containing a land title deed was stolen. The second involved a Honda Click 125i taken from in front of a Hokkien noodle shop near the entrance to Wat Chalong.
CCTV and abandoned motorbike linked the cases
Investigators at the two scenes found an abandoned Honda Wave with Phuket licence plate KSR 218 parked nearby, and no owner came forward to claim it.
Police said footage showed the suspect arriving on that motorcycle before allegedly breaking into the parked car. Officers said he then left on foot, stole the Honda Click and fled toward the Thalang area.
Chalong investigators later questioned Mr Kittisak, who allegedly confessed to both thefts. Police said he told officers he had abandoned the stolen motorcycles in Bang Tao Soi in the Cherng Talay area.
All stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners, police said. Chalong police also warned people not to leave keys inside vehicles and to lock them properly, including when parked at home or in familiar areas.
