CCTV shows foreign woman allegedly stealing souvenir from Phuket shop

A foreign woman was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing a souvenir from a shop in Thalang, Phuket, on May 17, with the incident reported to have happened at about 3.45pm. The shop owner shared footage on the Phuket Times Facebook page to help identify the suspect and warn nearby business operators.

The owner said the woman first handled a model Thai-style house before the alleged theft took place. Her nationality was not disclosed.

Footage shows dispute over second item at checkout

In the video, the woman is seen wearing a white shirt and pink skirt, with braided pigtails, while carrying a white shoulder bag and a plastic bag.

According to the shop owner, she was accused of putting a decorative flower basket model into the plastic bag after turning away from the camera.

She later took the house model to a staff member to pay for it. The employee reportedly noticed the second item and asked about it.

The suspect allegedly replied that she had already paid another worker for the flower basket. Staff checked with colleagues after she left and found that no payment had been made for that item, the owner said.

Product value undisclosed as similar Krabi case resurfaces

The shop owner did not reveal the value of the products involved. It also remained unclear whether a police complaint had been filed.

A similar case was reported in Krabi in April, where a foreign tourist was caught on CCTV stealing from a cannabis shop in Ao Nang.

Reports said the man waited until a staff member fell asleep, took a cannabis joint kept in a small plastic tube and left. Footage later showed him returning and appearing to try to steal more items, but the shop owner arrived before anything else was taken.

The man then reportedly pretended to browse, bought a lighter and left. Thai media reported no arrest in that case.
