Summer storms are forecast to affect 19 provinces across northern and northeastern Thailand on April 23, with the Thai Meteorological Department warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and isolated heavy rain. Officials said Bangkok will see hot weather and rain in 10% of the area, while Phuket and other southern provinces can expect scattered thunderstorms.

Specific Weather Risks and Regional Data

The northern region faces temperatures between 22-28°C at night and up to 42°C during the day, with thunderstorms expected in 20% of the area, especially in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Northeastern provinces such as Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, and Udon Thani will see storms in 30% of the area, with daytime highs reaching 39°C.

Central Thailand, including Saraburi and Kanchanaburi, will experience hot to very hot conditions, with isolated storms in 10% of the area and maximum temperatures of 41°C. The east, including Chonburi and Rayong, expects 20% thunderstorm coverage and highs up to 38°C.

In the south, including Phuket, daytime temperatures will peak at 36°C, with thunderstorms in 20% of the area and seas under 1 meter, rising above 1 meter during storms. Dust and haze in the north and upper central regions remain above standard levels, prompting officials to advise N95 mask use outdoors.
