Commerce Ministry launches gem roadshow to boost spiritual market in Phuket and beyond — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
The Commerce Ministry began its nationwide “Chanthaburi City of Gems” roadshow on April 25, aiming to expand the gem and jewelry market to spiritual consumers in Phuket and two other regions. The campaign features 30 certified Chanthaburi gem entrepreneurs per round, with the southern leg scheduled for June 26–30 at Central Phuket.
Certified Chanthaburi Gems and New Market Segments
All participating businesses must hold the “Chanthaburi Gems & Jewelry Guarantee,” certifying their products as 100% authentic gems from Chanthaburi. The event showcases signature stones such as yellow sapphire, blue sapphire, green sapphire, star sapphire, and Siam ruby.
Organizers are targeting not only traditional buyers but also spiritual customers and collectors. This year’s highlights include zodiac-themed lucky gems, specifically onyx and amethyst for the Year of the Horse, as alternative sales drivers.
The roadshow is part of a broader provincial plan (2023–2027) to raise Thailand’s gem industry to international standards. The Commerce Ministry is working with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand to ensure transparent supply chains and global consumer confidence through quality certification.
