A fire gutted the second floor of an abandoned building in Chalong after a pile of rubbish caught fire. No injuries or deaths were reported, and police seized two motorcycles found near the scene as investigators work to determine their owners and whether they are connected to the blaze.
A fire gutted the second floor of an abandoned building in Soi Suki-Nok Le, Moo 9, Chalong, at about 9:40pm. A pile of rubbish was burning inside the building. No injuries or deaths were reported.
Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphol, municipal officials, disaster prevention officers, Chalong Police and officers from the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation’s Tourist Assistance Centre, known as the Pearl Center, responded to the scene.
Firefighters used high-pressure water hoses to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties. Municipal officials said the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes, while a separate statement from Chalong Municipality said it was contained in around 20 minutes.
After the fire was extinguished, officers searched the area and found two motorcycles—one parked beneath the abandoned building and another on a nearby street. Police seized both motorcycles and took them to Chalong Police Station while investigators work to identify their owners and determine whether they are connected to the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
