Foreign couple uses fake payment slips for free meals in Phuket 🍽️ A warning is circulating among restaurant owners regarding a foreign tourist couple tricking local eateries into providing free meals in Phuket…
A warning circulated among restaurant owners on May 4 after a foreign couple was accused of using fake payment slips to get free meals in Phuket. The pair reportedly ate first, then claimed to pay by mobile bank transfer before showing counterfeit digital slips and leaving before staff could verify the transaction.
The latest reported case happened at a restaurant near the Government Savings Bank intersection in Patong. Officials urged nearby business operators and cashiers to watch for the scam and check transfers directly in the store account.
Patong businesses told to verify transfers before customers leave
Restaurant staff were advised not to rely on an image shown on a phone as proof of payment. Authorities said funds should be confirmed as received before diners are allowed to leave the premises.
The warning focused on digital transactions, which can be harder to verify quickly during busy service periods. The alert was shared as a reminder for businesses to tighten payment checks during the high-traffic tourist season.
