Foreign man allegedly flees Patong phone shop with repaired device
CCTV footage appears to show a foreign customer running from a Patong phone repair shop after offering B20 for a completed repair.
A foreign man allegedly ran from a phone repair shop in Patong, Phuket, on 21 August after taking back his repaired phone without paying the full bill, according to CCTV footage posted on TikTok.
TikTok user tonmai_pkt said the man had brought the phone in for repairs but did not have enough money when the work was finished. The footage appears to show him speaking with an employee while holding the repaired device, searching through his belongings and producing a B20 banknote.
The employee indicated that the money was insufficient and tried to retrieve the phone, but the man refused and suddenly ran out of the shop. An employee chased him but could not catch him.
The video’s caption joked about the speed of the customer’s escape. The footage attracted comments urging repair shops to collect payment or a deposit before returning devices, while some commenters called for action against the man.
