Four dead, 28 injured in Phuket so far during Seven Days of Danger

Four people have died and 28 others have been injured in road accidents across Phuket since the start of the annual Seven Days of Danger road safety campaign, officials confirmed on April 16. The campaign, which began on April 11, aims to reduce traffic fatalities during the Songkran holiday period. Phuket authorities have reported a total of 29 road accidents on the island since the campaign commenced.

Most Incidents Involve Motorbikes

According to the Phuket Road Safety Centre, motorbikes were involved in the majority of recorded accidents. Of the 29 incidents, 24 involved motorcycles, while the remainder included cars and pickup trucks.

Officials identified speeding and drunk driving as the leading causes of the crashes. Most accidents occurred at night, with a significant number on rural roads rather than main highways.

Police checkpoints have been set up at key locations throughout Phuket to enforce traffic regulations. Officers said they have increased patrols and are conducting random breathalyzer tests as part of the campaign.
