Four injured after crane truck hits Phuket tour bus
Four people were injured after a crane truck collided with an EV tour bus in Talat Yai, Phuket, sending a metal frame onto a passing motorcycle, police said.
Four people were injured in Phuket on June 9 after a crane truck collided with an electric city tour bus carrying tourists in Talat Yai, Mueang Phuket, police said.
Police were called to the scene at 2.30pm. Investigators said the crane truck had been parked at the roadside for work when the EV bus passed and the collision occurred. A metal frame from the crane then fell onto a motorcycle travelling on the road. A worker was also on the crane platform at the time.
The injured included two passengers on the EV bus and two people travelling on the motorcycle. Police said one of the bus passengers was a Chinese tourist, while one of the motorcycle passengers was from the Philippines. All four were taken to hospital.
Phuket City Municipality later said Phuket City Development, or PKCD, is responsible for the EV bus service and that the vehicle is covered by insurance.
Municipality officials said the Chinese tourist sustained a minor facial injury and was treated at Bangkok Hospital Phuket. Doctors later allowed her to leave hospital, with a follow-up check scheduled in two days.
Officials said the tourist had been understanding about the incident and had not raised any complaints. PKCD and Phuket City Municipality tourism officials are continuing to assist.
Police photographed the scene and documented evidence. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
