German man dies after collapsing at Rawai home
A 37-year-old German man died after apparently collapsing in a bathroom at his Rawai home and suffering a head injury, police said.
A 37-year-old German man died after collapsing at his home in Rawai and was later pronounced dead at Chalong Hospital, police said.
Officers from Chalong Police were notified at about 3pm that a foreign national had died in the emergency room at the hospital. Police went to the hospital and identified the deceased as a 37-year-old German national.
According to police, the man had suffered a head injury believed to have been caused when he struck the wall of the bathroom at his home in Soi Samakki 2, off Saiyuan Rd in Rawai.
Police said the man’s girlfriend, Chompoonuch Chanhom, told officers that he went into the bathroom to take a shower at about noon. While he was showering, she heard a loud noise and found that he had apparently collapsed and fallen, hitting his head against the bathroom wall.
She called an ambulance, which took him to Chalong Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police and a doctor at Chalong Hospital conducted a preliminary examination of the body and are investigating the exact cause of death. The body has been sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full post-mortem examination.
Police said they will also notify the German Embassy and immigration authorities in line with standard procedures.
