Gunshot damages parked pickup outside Kathu home
The incident occurred at about 1:50am at a house in Moo 1, Kathu, police reported.
A parked pickup was hit by gunfire at a house in Moo 1, Kathu, early Wednesday, police said. The shooting happened at about 1:50am on May 6 and left a bullet hole in a grey Isuzu D-Max with Phuket licence plates parked outside the home.
The vehicle is owned by 39-year-old Prasong Nawong. Police said the case was reported at about 11am, several hours after the damage was first discovered around 3am.
Police review CCTV and examine ballistic evidence
Officers led by Pol Lt Wiriyapong Srinualpan, deputy investigation inspector, went to the house with patrol units and documented the scene. Forensic officers then began examining the pickup for ballistic traces.
Inside the house, Wasu Chueamsamang told police he heard about six gunshots but did not go outside when the shots were fired. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV from the surrounding area to identify the people responsible.
Kathu Police Chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hoersawat has ordered an urgent investigation into the attack. Police said they are examining whether the shooting was meant as a warning or was linked to a personal dispute.
