The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain in Phuket, with waves exceeding two metres during storms.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain in Phuket from 6pm on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, to 6pm on Wednesday.
Thunderstorms are expected across 60% of Thailand’s west coast, including Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun. The forecast is being driven by a rather strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
From Phuket southwards, southwesterly winds are expected to reach 15-35 kilometres per hour. Waves are forecast at 1-2 metres and could exceed two metres during thunderstorms.
The TMD advised small boats in the upper Andaman Sea to remain ashore. Other vessels in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand were told to proceed with caution and avoid areas affected by thunderstorms.
