Heavy rain floods parts of Phuket, with water reaching 50cm
Flooding affected roads, homes and businesses in Phuket municipality, Patong and Kamala after prolonged rain, disrupting traffic and prompting officials to drain water and monitor conditions.
Heavy rain flooded several areas of Phuket overnight, with water reaching 30 to 50 centimetres in parts of Phuket municipality and affecting roads, homes, shops and traffic, Khaosod reported on 26 October 2026.
Flooding was reported on Bangkok, Yaowarat and Ranong roads, at Tha Khaeng junction and on Chao Fa East Road in Talat Nuea, Mueang Phuket. Municipal disaster-prevention staff used fire engines to help drain the water and placed metal barriers around flooded sections to protect road users.
In Patong, parts of Nai Nai Road and Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Road were flooded, preventing small vehicles from passing in some stretches. A section of Nai Nai Road was reported to have been damaged. Water also entered homes, shops and restaurants, including areas around Jungceylon shopping centre and the Andaman Pearl roundabout on Prachanukroh Road.
Kamala police inspected the area at about 1.30am and found flooding between the Phuket FantaSea junction and the traffic lights near a convenience store. Vehicles could use only one right-hand lane. Flooding was also reported on the bend near Kamala police station. Police and local officials assisted residents, managed traffic and monitored the situation.
Phuket authorities warned residents to remain alert for heavy rain from overnight into the morning, citing a 8pm NowCast update for the west coast of southern Thailand, including Phuket. Residents were advised to follow official announcements, avoid flooded routes and not drive through potentially dangerous currents. Officials said flooding could gradually ease in some areas if no further rain fell.
