Heavy rain forecast for Phuket on August 2
Thailand’s Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Phuket over the next 24 hours, with thunderstorms and possible flash flooding in vulnerable areas.
Heavy rain is forecast for Phuket over the next 24 hours, with the Thai Meteorological Department warning of thunderstorms across 60% of western southern Thailand, including Phuket, Phang Nga and Ranong.
The department urged people living near waterways, foothills and low-lying areas to remain alert for flash floods and runoff. Temperatures in the region are expected to range from 23 to 26°C overnight and reach 32 to 36°C during the day.
From Phuket southward, southwesterly winds are forecast at 15 to 30 kilometres per hour, with waves around one metre. Waves could rise above two metres in areas affected by thunderstorms. Sailors have been advised to exercise caution and avoid active storm areas.
