Immigration Police arrest Swedish mafia gang leader hiding from charges in a luxury Phuket condo

Immigration Police arrested a Swedish mafia gang leader wanted on international charges after locating him in a luxury condominium in Phuket on April 9. Authorities identified the suspect as Mr. Boran, a Swedish national subject to an Interpol Red Notice for alleged involvement in a 2020 murder in Arsta, Sweden, and related firearms offenses.

International Coordination and Arrest Operation

Thai police coordinated with the Nordic Police Liaison Office and the national police foreign affairs division to confirm Mr. Boran’s identity and outstanding Red Notice, number A-3951/3-2026, issued on March 9. Swedish investigators had identified him as the leader of a transnational crime syndicate linked to violent crimes and drug trafficking in Sweden.

Officers from Phuket Provincial Police and Immigration Division 6 tracked Mr. Boran to a high-end condo, where they found him in a bedroom around noon. The arrest team worked with building management to access the property.

Biometric records showed Mr. Boran entered Thailand on January 4 through Satun province on a tourist visa, later extending his stay in Phuket until April 3. Police charged him with overstaying his visa by six days before transferring him for legal proceedings and pending deportation to Sweden.
