A green turtle with visible injuries was rescued near the coast of Phuket on April 3, according to local marine officials. The animal was found entangled in discarded fishing gear off Nai Yang Beach and brought ashore for urgent care.
Turtle’s Condition and Response
Marine biologists reported that the turtle, measuring 65 centimeters in shell length, suffered deep lacerations on its flippers and neck. The entangling net was removed by rescue staff before the animal was transferred to the Phuket Marine Biological Center.
Officials said the turtle showed signs of exhaustion and dehydration upon arrival. Blood samples were collected to assess infection risk, and veterinarians administered fluids and antibiotics.
The Phuket Marine Biological Center stated that the turtle will remain under observation for several weeks. If its condition stabilizes, it may be released back into the wild.
