Kathu volunteers make sandalwood flowers for tribute to Queen Mother
Government agencies, partner organisations and residents joined a volunteer activity at Wat Kathu to make sandalwood flowers for a regional tribute ceremony.
Government agencies, partner organisations and residents joined a volunteer activity at Wat Kathu in Kathu district, Phuket, to make sandalwood flowers for a tribute to the Queen Mother.
The event, titled “Kathu district volunteers join forces to make flowers of loyalty in tribute to the Queen Mother”, was coordinated by Thairat Pan Kaew, a practising community development academic at the Kathu Community Development Office.
Kathu district chief Witthaya Jitsuphap said the activity was intended to encourage government bodies, organisations and local volunteers to work together to make sandalwood flowers as a royal tribute and to express their loyalty and gratitude.
Participants registered before attending a briefing and demonstration on how to make the flowers, led by experienced instructors. The district chief then visited the activity and joined participants in making them.
The completed sandalwood flowers were collected and prepared for a public offering ceremony in regional areas.
