Labour Minister targets Phuket workforce needs
Labour Minister Julaphan met Phuket officials, businesses and agencies to identify workforce problems and develop labour policies aligned with the province’s changing economy.
Thailand’s Labour Minister Julaphan held a meeting in Phuket to gather proposals on workforce problems and develop labour policies suited to the province’s changing economic direction.
The meeting took place at 2pm at the Boat Point Meeting Room at NH Boat Lagoon Phuket Resort in Koh Kaeo. Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom attended, along with senior labour officials, Phuket Deputy Governor Romdon Haye-awae and Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation President Rewat Areerob.
Representatives from government agencies, the private sector and business operators brought the total number of participating entities to 19.
Julaphan said the Ministry of Labour was adjusting its role to support national economic development, with human-capital development a key priority. He said workers needed skills matching market demand, while higher productivity and quality of life were essential to national competitiveness.
The ministry identified four main areas for Phuket and five economic-development priorities.
