Loose trailer wheel seriously injures motorcyclist at Phuket intersection

A trailer wheel came loose and struck a woman riding a motorcycle at a red light in Koh Kaeo, Phuket, seriously injuring her on 22 September.

Mueang Phuket police officers were called to the Koh Kaeo Intersection at about 2pm. The Thaiger, citing KhaoSod, reported that the wheel detached as the trailer reached the intersection and hit the motorcycle while it was stopped at the traffic lights.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and knocked unconscious. Passers-by found her unresponsive and called for help. Her identity was not disclosed.

The trailer stopped at the scene, where its driver waited for an insurance assessor. The incident caused traffic congestion, and police called technicians to move the trailer and clear the road. The report did not state what caused the wheel to come loose or whether any charge had been filed.
