Man arrested with handgun as four modified motorcycles seized in Phuket Town

Phuket City Police arrested a 25-year-old man carrying a handgun and 15 rounds of ammunition during a crime-prevention checkpoint in Phuket Town on 27 August 2026.

The operation took place from 1am to 2.30am near Satree Phuket School on Damrong Road. Police identified the suspect only as “Mr M”. Officers said he was also carrying a holster.

He faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a weapon in public without a valid reason, according to police. The suspect and the seized items were taken to Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.

During the checkpoint, officers recorded the profiles of 10 youths, searched 25 people, inspected five cars and checked 25 motorcycles. Police also impounded four motorcycles fitted with loud exhaust systems and other modifications, saying such vehicles can cause public disturbances and may be linked to criminal activity.
