A 29-year-old man died after falling from a building at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket early on May 4, police said. Phuket City Police were notified at about 1am and Acting Pol Lt Witthawat Krainara went to the scene at Internal Medicine Building 298 on the hospital grounds in Talat Yai.
The man was identified as Latthaphol Pattanagul, originally from Trang Province. He suffered critical injuries in the fall and was pronounced dead at about 2:10am after emergency treatment at the hospital.
Witnesses saw man go to seventh floor before fall
Initial witness statements said Mr Latthaphol took an elevator from the ground floor to the seventh floor before walking to a balcony area.
Witnesses said he was sitting with his legs hanging over the edge and behaving suspiciously, leading staff to alert security personnel.
Security officers arrived after he had already fallen from the building, police said.
Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Chatree Chukaew was informed of the case. Police said no foul play is suspected and no other persons are being sought in connection with the incident.
