More than 1,500 weight-loss pens worth B5.5 million seized in Wichit
Police and public health officials seized more than 1,500 weight-loss pens and related products from a condominium unit in Wichit, Phuket.
More than 1,500 weight-loss pens and related products valued at about B5.5 million have been seized from a condominium unit in Wichit, Phuket, according to The Phuket Express.
Investigators from Muang Phuket Police Station, working with the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, raided the unit after receiving complaints from customers who had ordered the products online.
The seized goods and product samples will undergo laboratory testing to establish their composition and registration status. Officials are also examining whether the products were authorised by Thailand's Food and Drug Administration and whether any may be counterfeit medicines.
The test results will help determine whether criminal charges should be brought under relevant laws. The Phuket Express also reported that weight-loss pens legally require prescriptions for sale and purchase.
